I earned my bachelor’s in psychology and history and decided to pursue social work for my master’s program. I really liked the perspective social work has on the effect that someone’s environment can have on them. I also admired the ability of clinical social workers to not only help the individual but also contribute to the community at large. I completed my master-level internship with the VA Hospital and continued as an employee, providing mental health services and earning my LCSW. Having been inspired by my clients at the VA, I was commissioned into the Navy as an officer, providing clinical counseling services to active-duty members and families and focusing on embedded mental health and suicide prevention. I have experience working with service members, Veterans, first responders, law enforcement, and LGBTQ+. In my clinical practice, I specialize in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR) and enjoy working with clients struggling with trauma and anxiety.
